Ao te Pō was born in the quiet chaos of māmā life—late nights, deep kōrero, and the unwavering desire to build something lasting for my tamariki. What started as a dream to normalise te reo Māori and celebrate our culture, became a brand rooted in aroha, tika, me te pono, and an unapologetic pride in being Māori.

Every piece we create is designed to empower, to help you feel seen, connected, and proud to represent who you are. Whether you’re just starting your reo journey or were raised on the paepae, Ao te Pō is for you.

Because being Māori is enough. And through these kākahu, we wear our identity boldly, while building a legacy our mokopuna will be proud of.

 

Mission Statement 

We create bold and meaningful kākahu for whānau of all ages, weaving te reo Māori, tikanga, and aroha into every design. Our clothing empowers Māori to stand proud, feel connected, and express identity in everyday spaces—whether they want to stand out or blend in. Born from whakapapa and driven by purpose, our mission is to normalise Māori culture and uplift our people.

 

Vision Statement 

Our vision is to build a legacy brand that celebrates Te Ao Māori and empowers future generations. We see a future where our kākahu are proudly worn in homes, shops, and whānau worldwide, representing identity, pride, and purpose. Ao te Pō has the potential to grow beyond clothing, becoming a hub of Māori creativity, education, and innovation. We aim to uplift our people, back kaupapa Māori, and unite indigenous cultures through shared love and respect.
